If one surfs about looking for sites providing comments about pediatricians and about ADHD, Autism, and other childhood disorders, it’s easy to find dozens (scores? hundreds?) of recommendations for vitamins, herbs, exercises, chiropracty, martial arts, and such. It’s a lot harder to identify sources of sensible, scientific information. Here are a few. Please feel free to contribute others by commenting.
My long-time fave is Clark Batram, who has Unitelligent Design. He’s been bursting quackbubbles for a long time. One can dig in about anywhere, but here’s a good one: “Pediatric Grand Rounds Volume 1 Edition 21: What Dreams May Come…...”
A peditrician who bills herself as “DrGwen” has a sensible approach that includes routinely exploding myths. See her entry “It’s All In The Spin“, for example. (She used to do a column for TownOnLine.)
Another pediatrician who himself as “Flea” maintains a blog that skewers some of the common misconceptions about topics such as ADHD, Austism, and other childhood disorders. Jump on over to ADHD linked to Daycare, Health Insurance to see an example.
Still another pediatrician who blogs as “Dr. Scott,” put a hurt Scientology’s take on mental health and illness in a post entitled “It’s All in Your Head.”
